Check Point goes local to meet India’s data sovereignty needs
Check Point Software Technologies has announced the hosting of Check Point Harmony Endpoint and Mobile solutions in India. The initiative and investment in local infrastructure will enable organisations in the country to keep their data safe locally. It will also help them meet data sovereignty requirements, such as those in the government, banking and financial services, and pharmaceutical sectors.
“As working from home becomes the norm, organisations are facing the challenge of securing themselves across all vectors. Harmony Endpoint and Harmony Mobile solutions will help organisations keep their endpoints and mobiles secure while being compliant with IT and security best practices,” said Sundar Balasubramanian, Managing Director, India and SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies.
Sharing more details, he explained that organisations can manage the two solutions through the company’s Infinity Portal that provides unified management, as well as protections, visibility, control, and insights for IT and security teams.
“With an Infinity Portal account, organisations can secure and manage their entire IT infrastructure – networks, cloud, IoT, endpoints, and mobile – with scalable, elastic, and cloud-based platform,” the company noted in a press release.
With COVID-19 pandemic driving adoption of work from home globally, as well as in India, employees need to access corporate networks through their laptops and mobile devices. This has increased the vulnerability of organisations to threats, as cybercriminals come up with more sophisticated methods of attack.
Organisations in key sectors also need to meet data sovereignty requirements. For example, as part of CERT-In requirements, it is mandatory for banking and financial services organisations in India to keep critical data within the country’s legal boundaries, as well as protect their critical systems using continuous monitoring such as direct control and supervision protocol mechanisms.
“Harmony Endpoint is a complete solution built to protect the remote workforce from today’s complex threat landscape. It prevents the most imminent threats to the endpoint while automating 90% of attack detection, investigation, and remediation tasks,” the company state, adding that Harmony Mobile offers advanced protection from all kinds of mobile threats and across mobile apps, networks, and operating systems (OS).
